DVA’s Flexible Learning Options

One-size-fits-all education does not meet the needs of all students. That’s why at Don Valley Academy, we are proud to offer several different learning options to suit your needs.

We offer the following flexible learning options:

  • Full-time studies
  • Part-time studies
  • Day Classes
  • Night Classes
  • Weekend Classes
  • Summer School
  • Virtual Classes
  • In-person Classes (before the pandemic)

Why do we offer multiple learning options?

At Don Valley Academy, we are dedicated to providing programs that meet the individual needs of each student. Our school provides a personalized success plan that guides each student to achieve their goals, no matter what their skill level or personal situations are. We aim to foster growth, motivation and good time management, and we want to see everyone succeed! This is why offering various flexible learning options is so important to us.

Students are more likely to see academic success when their classes fit their needs and learning styles. Here, we’ll dive into the benefits of each flexible learning option and share how you can start the enrollment process today.

Full-time or Part-time Studies

There are several reasons a student may benefit from taking part-time studies. Some of our students who use this format have busy extracurricular activities that may conflict with regular school hours. Others may desire a lighter course load that allows for them to focus on one course at a time.

We also have many students who opt for our full-time programs. This option immerses students in a typical high school experience. However, our classes are smaller than regular high schools and our teachers are able to provide individualized attention, which allows for our students to become stronger and more confident in their skills.

Day Classes, Night Classes or Weekend Classes

We offer options for classes throughout the entire week because we know that Monday to Friday 9-3 time slots don’t work for all families. It may come down to schedule conflicts that make attending daytime classes a challenge, or a student may have better focus in the evening than in the morning.

Our evening classes run from September to January and from February to June. Each course comprises of two three-hour classes per week. Similarly, our weekend classes comprise of one six-hour class that meets once per week.

Summer School

Looking to get ahead before the next school year starts? Or perhaps you want to re-take a course to boost your average. Whatever your reason, our summer school program is available. This option is common for students who want to get ahead on the material they will be learning in the fall or get one of their upcoming credits out of the way. This lightens their course load during the school year which can also decrease their stress.

Summer school runs during July and August, and each course takes one month to complete. Students have the option to take up to two courses in the summer; this can either be through small classes or one-on-one instruction.

Virtual Classes

We have always provided the option for virtual learning to our students, even before the pandemic. This allows families to save time commuting to and from school and students to practice independence. Not to mention keeping students safe from the spread of Covid-19.
