Learning Environment

Small classes and close relationships with staff.

At Don Valley Academy, we provide our students with a safe and nurturing learning environment that fosters positive and respectful behaviour. Our positive environment is based on:

  • A one-on-one or small-class setting where learning is a coordinated effort between students and faculty.
  • Our commitment to building positive student-teacher relationships that extend beyond the classroom.
  • Ongoing guidance to help students plan, work towards, and evaluate their short- and long-term goals.

Don Valley Academy teachers enjoy the small-class or individual teaching environment, because it allows them to explore new methods of teaching and new ways to learn. Every class is different, and we collaborate with our students to find the teaching or learning approach that works best for each student.

Don Valley Academy students appreciate the ongoing personal relationships they have with their teachers and with the principal, allowing them to get advice or support whenever they need it – with course work, graduation requirements, university or college applications, or any aspect of their lives inside or outside school.

The result of a Don Valley Academy education is a self-aware student who is equipped for postsecondary studies and lifelong learning. Moreover, our past students, based on the beneficial relationships built at the school, form a community of alumni who are available to current Don Valley Academy students seeking contacts or mentors in a variety of fields.
